Putting up fighting performance, Odisha drew their four-day C K Nayudu Trophy (U-23) Plate Group B match against Railways at Diesel Mechanical Works Cricket Ground in Patiala today. But Railways gained three points by virtue of taking a first-innings lead of 175 runs, while Odisha settled with one point.
Needing 33 runs for an outright win, Railways scored 12 for two in their second innings before play in the final day came to an end. Earlier, Railway declared their first innings at 454 for six, in reply to a competitive total of 281 by Odisha. Odisha vice-captain Ranjit Singh scored a century, while Gourav Mahapatra hit a half-century. For Railways, allrounder Akshat Pandey slammed an unbeaten 142, while four of his teammates scored a half-century each.
In the second innings, Abhishek Yadav and Shantanu Mishra notched up a half-century each. Ambikeshwar Mishra was the most successful Railway bowler, bagging six wickets for 74 in the second innings and 11 for 119 in the match. Odisha will play their next match against Assam at Gandhi Stadium in Balangir (Odisha) from October 31 to November 3.
